Clinical Psychologist

Dawn obtained her Bachelor and Master degrees in Psychology from the University of Melbourne. She has since accumulated over a decade of clinical experience across various settings in Singapore and Australia.

Dawn is experienced in working with people who suffer from Depression, Anxiety Disorders, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) as well as trauma-related issues. Dawn also has a special interest in geriatric conditions including adjustment disorders, dementia as well as grief and loss. To help her clients who are experiencing death and non-death related losses more effectively, she is currently pursuing certification with the Portland Institute for Loss and Transition. She also works with young people who have difficulties managing difficult emotions and relationships, or are struggling with finding their meaning and purpose in life. Additionally, Dawn’s other clinical interests include managing perfectionism, burnout and workplace stressors as well as weight management difficulties.

She adopts an empathic and non-judgmental approach to create a safe and nurturing space in therapy, to facilitate important and honest conversations with her clients. Dawn believes that there is good in every person and circumstance, and seeks to guide her clients towards acceptance, meaning-making and personal growth in spite of challenges.

Prior to pursuing her postgraduate studies, Dawn worked with children and adolescents (as well as their families) with severe emotional and behavioural difficulties due to social issues, including trauma and neglect in the community. She also worked with older adults in an acute psychogeriatric ward in Australia.

Dawn has a special interest in conducting psychological assessments for adults and older adults. She also works with clients with issues of obesity, geriatric and palliative care services in hospitals; and served as a committee member for a hospital’s staff support program.

Understanding that every client’s experiences and preferences are unique, Dawn draws from a range of therapeutic approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Schema Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, mindfulness and self-compassion approaches, to customise an appropriate management plan for each client.

As someone who advocates for personal wellbeing and self-care, Dawn enjoys spending time with her loved ones over food and being in nature.

Dawn provides therapy in English, Mandarin and basic Malay.
