Cristina is a Clinical Psychologist, and a Clinical Supervisor registered with the Singapore Register of Psychologists (SRP). She has accumulated two decades of clinical experience working with adults and adolescents across a range of settings, including Occupational Medicine Hospital (Principal Psychologist), and her private practice in Romania and at James Cook University Singapore (Psychology Clinic Manager, Clinical Supervisor and Assistant Lecturer in Psychology). Currently, she is running her own private practice in Germany and consults with Annabelle Psychology (as a Clinical Psychologist), providing online psychotherapy services to clients.
Cristina provides psychotherapy to individuals who experience a range of concerns and presentations, including anxiety and mood disorders (eg. depression, social anxiety disorder, specific phobias, obsessive compulsive disorder), post-traumatic stress disorder, anger, somatic symptom disorders, interpersonal relationship problems, adjustment issues, attachment issues, relationship or familial difficulties. She also has a special interest in helping people who have significant difficulties coping with chronic illnesses (eg. chronic pain, comorbid medical conditions and their related emotional difficulties) and in working with young people who have emotional regulation difficulties, socio-emotional difficulties or are struggling with finding their meaning and purpose in life.
Cristina’s other clinical interests include managing workplace related stress and burnout and providing support to expat clients who are dealing with difficulties adjusting to life in a different cultural environment.
Cristina strongly believes in the importance of having a holistic understanding of client’s problem, in order to be able to meet, through a customised treatment plan, each client’s unique presentation (considering their life context, needs, personal resources and potential). She develops individualised treatment plans for her clients, with the understanding that every client’s experiences are unique. She draws from a range of therapeutic approaches and Evidence-Based treatment modalities and integrates techniques from therapies such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Mindfulness – based approaches, to collaboratively tailor an appropriate treatment plan for each client.
Cristina brings significant life experience to therapy, having lived and worked in three different countries and is highly sensitive on how cultural differences play a key role during psychotherapy. She is warm and attuned to her client’s needs and adopts an empathic and non-judgemental approach, to create a safe and nurturing space in therapy, to facilitate the therapeutic alliance with her clients.
As a professional, deep down at a core level, Cristina’s been always driven by the idea of a unity of mind and body health and is focused in helping others to make the most of their inner strengths by using all that amazing “unexplored” personal potential when coping with life challenges. She seeks to guide her clients towards acceptance, meaning-making and personal growth in spite of challenges, so that they become the best version of themselves.
In her spare time, to unwind after a busy day, Cristina enjoys having a soul-chat with her adult son. For self-care and relaxation, she practices mindfulness, biking and exploring the wonders of nature together with her husband. She also loves gardening, traveling and experiments with her cooking and photography.
Cristina provides therapy in English and Romanian.
